Hollywood Through a Different Lens.

Hollywood Reporter

The WGA said Monday that it has agreed to an interim agreement with the producers of the Grammy Awards telecast. The move was widely expected after the guild said last week it would not picket the ceremony.

“Professional musicians face many of the same issues that we do concerning fair compensation for the use of their work in new media,” WGA West president Patric Verrone said Monday. “In the interest of advancing our goal of achieving a fair contract, the WGAW board felt that this decision should be made on behalf our brothers and sisters in the American Federation of Musicians and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.”

When I originally heard of this film back in 2004 to star Jennifer Aniston, Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley and still rumored Lisa Bonet; I will admit I was a little skeptical on whether this works or not. Four years later and with the this film still floating around I had to take a step back and revisit this. In the past four years Coen Brothers have had some major success so Gambit might work after all… if it ever gets to the filming stage. The brothers are having a great ride with their film No Country For Old Men, which just won a SAG award last night( Also Oscar nominated) and they are a few upcoming films that are not to be overlooked like Burn After Reading staring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Tilda Switon. Also in the pipeline is for 2009 is Hail Ceasar which they will also write and direct.

Synopsis for Gambit:

Harry Dean’s plan to steal a statue from one of the world’s richest men is missing one final component — the participation of a beautiful woman to act as his gambit. In Nicole, he meets someone who appears to be the perfect candidate, but Harry himself becomes enraptured with her, causing his plan to take a series of wrong turns.

Yes. For the Oscar push, Michael Clayton, staring George Clooney, has been re-released in theaters. Ya know, to make more money. I case you don’t want to shelve out $10 bucks for one time enjoyment, you can wait and shelve out $15 when Michael Clayton is released on DVD February 19th.

L.A. Times wrote a little article defining the actresses that bring gluteus maximuses to the seats of theaters. It’s an interesting read that includes the likes of Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston,( pictured above) and Anne Hathaway. I don’t agree with some of the wording and choices though. I think it’s more of a popularity article than based on facts. Or maybe I am thinking about this too much. Alot of these women have films coming out this year, so we shall see how the popularity contest sorority sisters hold up.
