Just wanted to say thank you the few, very few people that do come check out this blog. It’s hard when you are posting as a secondary source, but it’s not about the numbers that seem to consume those of the celebrity gossip blogging genre. It is just nice to be able to come and blog about something that I love and do it as a hobby. It’s been over a year and I can not believe I am still at it. Again thanks, and happy web surfing!

I was expecting a great opening weekend for this film, but not this great. Iron Man staring Robert Downey Jr. and directed by John Favreau opened with a little over $100 million dollars domestically and over $96 million internationally , equally an estimated $200 million dollars. Maybe it’s the lack of a good action flick or the warm weather; whatever it was people came out in droves and it shows. Congrats!

Wesley Gets Three Years!!!

Wesley SnipesA judge has just sentenced Wesley Snipes to three years in prison for tax evasion. Forget black — always bet on the U.S. government! Snipes was not forced to surrender immediately. Instead, the judge ruled he could surrender at a later date, closer to his New Jersey home. Nathan J. Hochman, Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, said, “Snipes’ long prison sentence should send a loud and crystal clear message to all tax defiers that if they engage in similar tax defier conduct, they face joining him and his co-defendants … as inmates in prison.” Snipes was convicted in February on three misdemeanor charges for not filing his taxes. The government claimed he owed $2.7 mil — but Snipes’ attorneys argued it was just $228,000. No fine was imposed, but the three-year sentence was the max he could have gotten. Celebrity friends Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson wrote letters in his defense to appeal for leniency. Oh well …

Congrats to Johnny Depp!

Jennifer Connelly has signed on to star in “The Day the Earth Stood Still” for 20th Century Fox. Keanu Reeves has already boarded the sci-fi remake.Scott Derrickson will direct the pic as his follow-up to “The Exorcism of Emily Rose.” Ryne Douglas Pearson wrote the screenplay; David Scarpa penned a recent draft.

Story kicks off as aliens land on Earth carrying a message for all humans: Live in peace or be destroyed. Connelly is set to portray Helen Benson, the role Patricia Neal played in the 1951 original.

Fox has set a December start date in Vancouver.

Erwin Stoff is producing alongside Derrickson’s partner Paul Boardman, who also produced “Emily Rose.”

Connelly is shooting the ensemble comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You” for New Line. She will then segue to “Day the Earth Stood Still.”
